The Kemp’s Ridley Turtle is the smallest and rarest of sea turtle, growing to about 100 pounds. It is named after Richard Moore Kemp, a fisherman from Key West, who claims credit for discovering this species in 1880. It was named in honor of Kemp, because he was the first to send a specimen to Harvard. These turtles, unlike the others, eat mostly crabs.
